Abstract

This study employs a multidisciplinary approach to delve into the complex intersection of ancient languages and cognitive phenomenology in the Mediterranean region. By integrating archaeology, anthropology, history, and cultural heritage studies, it elucidates how language proficiency influences and is influenced by individuals' perspectives on cognitive processes. Utilizing a phenomenological methodology, the research qualitatively analyzes language maintenance strategies employed by a specific minority population. It reveals that participants actively create supportive environments for language proficiency through various strategies, including self-study, knowledge exchange, participation in discussion forums, watching English films, and reading for pleasure in the target language. The findings provide empirical data for understanding the interaction between language and cognition in ancient Mediterranean contexts, offering significant insights for modern language maintenance and cultural heritage management.
