Abstract

Archaeology, as a discipline that explores human history and culture, provides a unique perspective for understanding the relationship between perception and cognition. This paper proposes the philosophical dimension of synaesthetic metaphor, focusing on the intersection of perception and cognition. By analyzing the flexibility and creativity of human perception and cognition exhibited by synaesthetic metaphor in terms of sensory appropriation, representational association, and imagery sensibility, we uncover the complex interplay between perception and cognition, the subjectivity and relativity of perception revealed by the philosophical sense, as well as the coherence and wholeness of thinking. Incorporating archaeological findings, this paper further explores the establishment of the logic of perception and cognition, and provides a comprehensive analysis of the cross-relationship between them, demonstrating the complexity and multiplicity of perception and cognition.
