Philosophical Foundations for the Conservation of Historic Industrial Buildings: Cultural Identity, Sustainability and Social Values

Historic industrial buildings are important carriers of human civilization, and their unique philosophical value is becoming more and more prominent. Therefore, the philosophical basis for the conservation of historic industrial buildings is studied: cultural identity, sustainability and social value. We analyze the philosophical concepts of historic industrial building preservation and identify the core elements of industrial building preservation. We also elaborate the cultural identity intention of historic industrial building conservation from the aspects of triggering the cultural identity emotion in the atmosphere of historic industrial building conservation, exploring the cultural identity intention of the interface materials of industrial buildings, and visualizing the cultural identity concept of the philosophy of revitalization of building conservation. It explores the form of sustainable development of industrial building protection, and then discusses the historical value of industrial building protection, the urban existence value of historical industrial building protection, and the social and cultural value of historical industrial building protection, so as to provide theoretical support for the rational protection and reuse of historical buildings.
