Abstract

This study aims to explore interdisciplinary research methodologies for understanding ancient musical cultures in the Mediterranean region, with a particular focus on the integration of archaeology and ethnomusicology. Through a multidisciplinary approach, we first provide an overview of the application of philosophical paradigms and cross-cultural interpretations in music education, and delve into the types and characteristics of philosophical paradigms in musicology. Building on this, we emphasize the innovation of cross-cultural interpretations in ethnomusicology, including enhancing the deep connections between music and culture, and fostering dialogue and communication among different cultures. Furthermore, this paper examines how philosophical paradigms provide theoretical foundations and thinking frameworks for cross-cultural interpretations, and how philosophical perspectives introduce new research ideas and methods. By combining archaeological evidence with ethnomusicological theories, this research reveals the diversity and complexity of ancient musical cultures in the Mediterranean region, offering fresh insights into the cultural interactions and evolution of ancient human societies.
