Abstract

The Mediterranean region, as the cradle of ancient civilizations, harbors a rich tapestry of historical and cultural information within its multinational dance arts. This paper explores the origins, evolution, and cultural significance of these dance arts in ancient societies through an archaeological lens, incorporating various analytical methods from the natural sciences. Additionally, supported by pedagogical and sociological theories, the study examines the current state of inheritance and development of these dance arts in contemporary university education, highlighting their crucial role in cultivating regionally distinctive dance professionals and fostering regional economic development. The research reveals that the inheritance and development of minority dance cultures in current university dance teaching still face numerous challenges and deficiencies. By analyzing the underlying causes, this paper proposes targeted countermeasures and suggestions, aiming to provide a scientific basis for the preservation and continuation of Mediterranean dance cultures.
