Abstract

During the Han Dynasty, Daoist thought was the predominant cultural trend, and the "water culture" represented by water-oriented Daoism constitutes a significant component of Daoist and traditional Chinese philosophical thought, profoundly influencing the development of Han Dynasty art. The "Changxiu Dance" epitomizes the pinnacle of Han Dynasty's music and dance art. Its outer sleeves dance like flowing water, exhibiting a "water-like" form, while its inner beauty conveys virtues, the interplay of emptiness and reality, the eternal coexistence of heaven and humanity, and the simplicity and authenticity of the "spirit of water," all imbued with the Daoist cultural thought of "worshipping water." Viewing from the perspective of Daoist "water culture," the body language of the Han Dynasty's Changxiu Dance transcends historical time and space, enabling its continuation in contemporary times. This cultural gene serves as a solid foundation for the reproduction, inheritance, and development of Han Dynasty Changxiu Dance and traditional Chinese dance art, as well as for establishing confidence in Chinese dance culture today.
