Abstract

Archaeology, serving as a bridge between the past and the present, offers a unique historiographical perspective on physical education. This paper employs a multidisciplinary approach rooted in archaeology to delve into the historiographical elements of physical education, aiming to uncover its significant role in cultural inheritance. By analyzing the origins and evolution of physical education through archaeological methods, and examining physical education practices within historical contexts, the paper reveals the enlightening significance of historical figures and legends in physical education. Furthermore, utilizing archaeological geology, environmental archaeology, and digital archaeology techniques, the paper reconstructs ancient sports activities, thereby exploring the historical depth of sports civilization and its implications for modern sports teaching. The findings indicate that an archaeological perspective on physical education not only aids in understanding ancient sports culture but also provides rich historical resources and theoretical support for contemporary sports education.
