In the digital age, archaeology and historical research are undergoing a revolution. This paper explores the application of digital media art in digital archaeology to uncover the history of the Mediterranean region. By leveraging advanced technologies such as virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), 3D modeling, and multimedia presentation, digital archaeology offers new perspectives and methods for Mediterranean historical research. The paper begins by introducing the fundamental concepts of digital archaeology and digital media art, along with their developmental context. It then analyzes specific applications of digital media art in archaeology and actual cases in Mediterranean historical research through a literature review. Subsequently, the paper elaborates on the research methods employed, including data collection and analysis tools, and demonstrates the application effects of digital media art at Mediterranean historical sites through specific case studies. The research findings indicate that digital media art not only enhances the presentation of historical sites but also provides immersive experiences, aiding the audience in better understanding and experiencing historical culture. Finally, the paper discusses the advantages and challenges of current technological applications and proposes future research directions. This study aims to offer valuable references for academia and practical applications, promoting the further development of digital archaeology and digital media art in historical research.
