Abstract

This paper adopts a multidisciplinary approach to explore the archaeological significance and influencing factors of sports migration among Chinese elite volleyball players. By integrating perspectives from archaeology, anthropology, and history, a semi-structured interview analysis was conducted on the migration pathways of 11 Chinese elite volleyball players, focusing on key factors such as the national sports system, athlete registration regulations, salary, and coach recommendations. The study reveals that these factors not only play a crucial role in modern sports migration but also bear similarities to ancient human migration and cultural exchanges. The paper further examines the impact of sports migration on cultural heritage transmission, proposing a novel archaeological perspective for studying sports migration. This provides a fresh theoretical framework for understanding human mobility in both ancient and modern contexts
