First of all, through the definition and composition of literary literacy, this paper points out that literary literacy includes not only language ability and cultural understanding, but also critical thinking and other multi-dimensional factors. As an important carrier of cultural inheritance, ancient literature embodies its literary quality mainly through the analysis of classic works, such as A Dream of Red Mansions, The Book of Songs and other works are not only excellent in language art, but also have a profound impact on later generations in terms of ideological depth and cultural value.
Then, under the influence of the information age, modern literature presents the characteristics of diversification and globalization. The development of digital technology has significantly changed the way of literary creation and communication, and the emergence of new forms such as network literature and electronic books has redefined the relationship between readers and texts. The literary quality shown in modern literary works reflects the contemporary society's profound thinking about the individual, culture and ethics. For example, writers such as Haruki Murakami and Mo Yan, through the narrative style and cultural symbols in their works, not only convey personal emotions, but also reveal the complexity and diversity of society.

Although ancient literature focuses on moral education and cultural inheritance, modern literature is more inclined to explore individual existence and social change, but both reflect the characteristics of literary literacy in their respective times under specific historical background. Through case studies, this paper further reveals the dialogical relationship between ancient classics and modern works, emphasizing the continuing importance of literary literacy in different historical periods.
Finally, this paper sums up the importance of literary literacy in the information age, and calls for the in-depth study of traditional culture and modern literature. Facing the rapidly changing times, literary literacy is not only the basis of cultural inheritance, but also an important tool for people to understand and adapt to social changes. Through the systematic analysis of ancient and modern literature, this paper hopes to provide a new perspective and thinking path for future literature research.
