Contemporary Revival Practices of Song Dynasty Music and Dance: From Academic Research to Cultural Consumption

Abstract

Song Dynasty music and dance, as an important part of ancient Chinese culture, carries rich historical significance and artistic value. With the promotion of Chinese cultural Renaissance, the contemporary revival practice of Song Dynasty music and dance has gradually become a hot spot in academic research and cultural industry. The purpose of this paper is to explore the path of contemporary revival of music and dance in Song Dynasty, and to analyze its transformation process from academic research to cultural consumption. First, the article reviews the historical background, artistic characteristics and cultural functions of music and dance in Song Dynasty, and points out its unique position in Song Dynasty society and far-reaching influence on later generations. Then, from the perspective of academic research, this paper analyzes the academic challenges and innovations in the process of Song Dynasty music and dance revival, and discusses how musicology, dance, history and other disciplines jointly promote the theoretical development and practice path of Song Dynasty music and dance revival. Especially in the context of contemporary cultural consumption, the revival of Song Dynasty music and dance has experienced the process of transformation from traditional art forms to marketization and industrialization, and the interaction of academic research and cultural consumption has jointly promoted the reappearance of Song Dynasty music and dance in contemporary society. Through case analysis, this paper presents several typical examples of Song Dynasty music and dance revival in detail, including dance repertoire performances, cultural exhibition projects, etc., and analyzes how these projects integrate academic research results into commercial operation, and how to shape public cognition and acceptance of Song Dynasty music and dance. The article also discusses the influence of cultural consumption on the revival of music and dance art in Song Dynasty, and analyzes how the contemporary cultural industry creates cultural symbols with the help of Song Dynasty music and dance elements, and spreads them through various media channels, forming a unique phenomenon of cultural consumption. Through in-depth analysis of the interaction between academic research and cultural consumption, this paper reveals the complexity and multi-dimensional characteristics of Song Dynasty music and dance revival, and puts forward how academic research promotes cultural consumption, and how cultural consumption in turn affects the innovation and development of academic research. Finally, this paper looks forward to the future development of the revival of music and dance in the Song Dynasty, points out the current challenges and opportunities, and puts forward suggestions for further academic research and cultural practice.
