Abstract

This study examines the impact of digital technologies on the narrative aesthetics of theater and film, tracing the evolution from traditional stagecraft to the immersive realms of virtual reality. The integration of virtual sets, digital lighting, and 3D projections in theater has redefined spatial and temporal boundaries, offering dynamic storytelling possibilities. In film, advancements such as CGI, motion capture, and special effects have expanded the visual and emotional palette, enabling the creation of fantastical worlds and creatures. The emergence of VR technology further challenges conventional narrative structures, fostering a participatory dimension that transforms audiences from passive observers to active participants. This study analyzes case studies, such as the VR adaptation of “The Tempest” and “Notes on Blindness,” to illustrate the transformative potential of digital innovations. It concludes by highlighting the future of narrative aesthetics, particularly the role of AI in personalizing and enhancing the storytelling experience.
